The Julia Garnham Centre

Reducing backlogs for cancer patients

The Julia Garnham Centre, an equal partnership between the University and Sheffield Children’s Hospital, is a unique remote placements facility created to help reduce NHS cancer and rare disease backlogs whilst training the next generation of leaders in the field of genetics.

It’s named for Julia Garnham, a pioneering geneticist who developed clinical laboratory processes and training for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust for over 30 years.

In this film, the centre’s director Dr Adam Hodgson and external partners discuss how the facility is creating positive change for the hospital and its patients, as well as for our students.
