New AI systems promise smarter and more independent robots. But they need large amounts of data, energy and computing power, which can place extra strain on the environment.
In contrast, the tiny brains of insects work with very little energy yet still show strong and flexible behaviour.
This talk explores how studying insect brains can guide the design of more efficient and reliable robots, and how this new approach to AI is already starting to appear in real world technology.
