Exploring Queer Storytelling and AI
Artist Tom Marshman explores how AI and theatre can uncover hidden LGBTQ+ stories and question what it means to be human.
In this episode of Cultures of AI, host Samborne Bush speaks with Bristol-based artist and theatre maker Tom Marshman about blending artificial intelligence with personal storytelling and queer history. Tom shares how his long-standing interest in uncovering hidden LGBTQ+ stories led to a collaboration with the Bristol Old Vic Adult Company and the Patterns in Practice research team.
Through workshops exploring names, identity, and archives, Tom and the group used AI tools to reimagine their stories and question how technology represents human experience. Drawing inspiration from Ada Lovelace and Alan Turing, Tom reflects on creativity, queerness, and what it means to be human in a digital age.
