The Arctic is heating up fast but Antarctica is full of surprises. Sea ice has even grown in some years. Explore what’s really happening in our polar regions.
Over the past 40 years, the Arctic has warmed 2-4 times faster than the global average, causing rapid ice loss and opening new shipping routes. But what about Antarctica? Its climate story is far more complex.
Surprisingly, satellite data from 1979 to 2014 showed Antarctic sea ice growing slightly, even breaking records in 2012-2014. What’s really happening with Antarctic temperatures, sea ice, and wildlife?
