Innovation Districts are areas where research institutions work alongside established companies, smaller suppliers, startups and business incubators. Bringing these organisations together can help new ideas move between research and industry and support the growth of new and existing businesses.
Katz explains how Innovation Districts differ from traditional science parks. Instead of separating research and businesses from the places where people live and spend time, they become part of the surrounding city. They are designed around areas where people can walk, cycle and use public transport.
