Research Records #41 Professor Marie Kinsey Interviews Professor Angie Hobbs
Professor Angie Hobbs joined the University of Sheffield in 2012 as the first - and maybe still the only - Chair in the Public Understanding of Philosophy.
Angie studied Classics at Cambridge, winning a first class honours degree and followed it up with a PhD in Ancient Philosophy.
After a research fellowship at Christ’s College Cambridge she moved to the Philosophy Department at the University of Warwick before joining Sheffield. She has a particular interest in Plato and her publication list is, to say the least, extensive - it even includes a Ladybird expert book on Plato’s most well known writing, The Republic.
Her latest book, Why Plato Matters Now is out soon. She has contributed to many radio and television programmes, lectures and has been a guest on Desert Island Discs, Private Passions and Test Match Special
