Language learning and the brain

Part of Understanding Society: A Festival of Social Science
8 Nov 2020 12:00

Our memory plays an important role in every aspect of our lives. Research has shown that when you train your memory effectively, you will see long-lasting improvements in your mental fitness and abilities. One potential way in which to train your memory is through learning a foreign language. Speaking two or more languages from a very young age has been shown to improve brain functioning, memory and attention.

This series of podcasts explores the cognitive benefits of learning a foreign language.
