12 Nov 2020 10:00

Enter the fascinating world of the musicians and dancers of Punjab with this immersive audio walk, featuring Mandakini Swain, the talented classical vocalist of the Gwalior gharana (lineage), and acclaimed Indian actor and voice-over artist Sagar Arya. It will will transport you to the mystical ‘Bridge of the Dancing Girl’ (Pul Kanjri) on the India-Pakistan border near Amritsar.

Discover the secrets of characters like the powerful courtesan wife of Sikh ruler Ranjit Singh, Lady Moran, who was known to dance like a peacock. Learn about the musicians who bridged the audiences of two rival nations despite hardened animosity, and reflect on the peace-building role of music in the violent Partition of 1947.
