Crop Growth in Space

And urban agriculture on Earth

This short animated film looks at why we need to grow crops in space and how it can help with food security on Earth.

Luke Fountain (Animal and Plant Sciences, School of Biosciences) and researchers from the Institute for Sustainable Food worked with Humanstudio to produce the film. Luke and his colleagues are collaborating with space plant biologists and others to make growing plants in space possible. These new technologies can also be used to enable urban agriculture and provide a pathway to food security.
